Members of BB&E’s Atlanta team recently spent the morning giving back to their local community by volunteering at Pinnacle Park in Norcross, Georgia, supporting a forest restoration initiative led by the City of Norcross Parks Department in partnership with Trees Atlanta.

Trees Atlanta is one of the region’s most widely recognized environmental nonprofits, dedicated to protecting and improving Atlanta’s urban forest through tree planting, conservation, and education initiatives. Founded in 1985, the organization works with community partners and volunteers to restore native ecosystems and expand tree canopy across metro Atlanta.

During the volunteer event, the BB&E team helped restore a portion of the park’s forest that had previously undergone invasive species removal. Invasive plants can outcompete native species and degrade the health of urban forests, making restoration efforts essential to rebuilding resilient ecosystems. Replanting native trees and shrubs is a key part of this process, helping forests recover and supporting biodiversity in the region.

Working together with volunteers and project partners, the team planted 56 native trees, including 27 hazel alders and 29 silky dogwoods, which will help reestablish native vegetation and strengthen the health of the local forest ecosystem.

The morning was filled with hands-on work and teamwork. Volunteers dug planting holes, carefully placed and watered each new tree, and constructed protective wire cages to shield the young seedlings from wildlife and environmental stress while they take root.

Pinnacle Park itself has become an important community green space for Norcross and the surrounding area, serving as both a recreational destination and a living arboretum that showcases a variety of tree species and promotes environmental stewardship.

For the BB&E Atlanta team, the event was not only an opportunity to spend time outdoors, but also a meaningful way to support environmental restoration and community wellbeing. By contributing to the restoration of native forests, volunteers helped ensure that this green space continues to thrive for future generations.

We extend our thanks to Trees Atlanta, the City of Norcross Parks Department, and our BB&E team members for their dedication to creating shared impact in the communities where we live and work. Their efforts demonstrate how collaborative volunteer initiatives can support a healthier, more sustainable metro Atlanta region.
